Again, I wrote this page five years ago, and there's been no updates on it since. For posterity's sake, I might keep it. But it does still make me cringe to look at it.

...duo and hilde as a pair..

Hilde and Duo. Hilde without Duo seems lonely, and Duo without Hilde seems equally lonely. Duo has lost almost everyone he's ever loved, and Hilde has been alone. Hilde's the survivor, Duo's someone to keep her company. Fits? 

Of course it does, duh.

The Episodes...Duo and Hilde.

"Duo: God of Death Once Again" episode 23, was when Hilde made her debut, and from then on usually whenever Duo's in the episode, so is she, until after the "Signs of a Final Battle" episode. They meet for the first time, and the whole episode's about them fighting, her capturing him, them talking, her switching sides, him escaping, her going after him, her helping him, and him getting beaten up by Master O and rejoining Heero and Wufei.

"The God of Death VS Zero", ep. 32, has Hilde and Duo after they began living together. Duo fights in Zero and he imagines blowing up Hilde. This scares the crap out of him! Ha ha. Fool.

In some episode between 32 and 35, Hilde and Duo go to the circus, and Duo doesn't seem to like the idea of Hilde falling for a clown, especially a clown named Trowa!

Somewhere after that, Duo has to leave, and basically tells Hilde she can't come with him and she'd better stay safe until he gets back. "You've found your niche," he preaches. "Yes, I'll stay," she basically says, but apparently she got bored and lonely.

"Signs of a Final Battle," episode 45. That's what I'm talking about. Heero/Duo supporters can't counter this episode with anything except for a humble statement of, "Well, you're right, SeaShelle. Duo and Hilde are completely meant for each other. Quatre can be with Trowa, Heero with Zechs, or Wufei, but DUO AND HILDE are together forever!!!" Yeah, like that'll ever happen. Anyway, White Fang sends the Mercurious and the Vayate up there after her, after she gets the data disk and flies off. She gets pretty smashed up, and she's bleeding everywhere. She screams over the transmission: "DUO!" and he hears her. Duo nearly faints. Wanting to go after her, but unsure if it's safe to leave the others behind, Quatre, the brains of the operation, gives Duo the "you have to go to her!" and Duo leaves without waiting for Quatre to change his mind. Right before our Petite Rebel gets sliced to ribbons by one of the MSes with Trowa or Heero's minds, Duo takes care of them. Duo was severly pissed that Hilde did what she did. He asked her why the heck she would attempt such a thing. "Because...I wanted to," she responded lamely, covered in blood. She held up the disk, which was soaked in blood. He then called her a stupid fool, and she was taken back to the ship to get some medical attention. I liked that episode...but Hilde doesn't appear again until Endless Waltze. "We can't let the data disk go to waste," Quatre told Duo. Duo shook his head, watching Hilde be wheeled away, almost hypnotic with disbelief.

Yeah, but what about Duo and Heero???

Seriously, the Hilde/Duo relationship is a little more realistically based on the anime because of the way Hilde and Duo interact. And they have a lot in common. And Hilde doesn't flash Duo a death stare if Duo talks to her.

Ok...but Hilde and Duo were on opposing teams. And Hilde tried to kill Duo.

Well, Duo shot Heero twice when they first met...to save Relena, I recall, who was less then grateful to Duo. And Heero's had his share of being mean to Duo...like stealing parts off of his Gundam. As for Hilde trying to kill Duo, yeah, she did, but Duo saved her when the other mobile suits were firing at them both. Then he preached to her and she quickly switched sides. That was fast.

But Hilde and Duo aren't really mentioned as having romantic interests in each other.

Oh, and I suppose Duo and Heero are?! As far as Hilde and Duo having romantic interests in each other, they live together, guys!

But...they could just be friends...

Yeah, that's true, and definitely an option. They could just be friends...really good friends. Anyway, I'd say between Duo's horrible hallucination of blowing up Hilde, combined with Hilde's quick side-switch, to Duo's saving of Hilde, over to them living together and how mad Duo is when he finds out she got the disk for him, topped with Duo's frown and "Yeah, right," when Hilde mentions going for Trowa when they're at the circus...I think that they're probably romantically interested in each other, but they are poised as friends for now. Or maybe, you're right. Wait, no you're not. Sorry, loser.

Then if Hilde and Duo are just friends, that means that Heero and Duo can...

Maybe. I have nothing against yaoi, especially shonen ai, (because a lot of the time shonen ai is romantic & sweet), but then why isn't Duo staying with Heero if he has such strong feelings for him? And what are the odds of pilots 1 and 2 BOTH being homosexuals with feelings for each other? And then, even if they have uh....some intimate relations, does that even mean they have feelings for each other? And this is all unsupported by the frickin anime! Whoo. ::Sits back down.:: Anyway.

Well, maybe Duo doesn't even like Hilde!

Yeah, he does. We're sure, at least, that Duo likes Hilde in some way, because he's living with her. When Hilde walked away in episode 23, she went in slow motion with lots of light behind her while Duo stared (AND if you're wondering, NO, I'm not ever going to let go of this scene), you know he was attracted to her. And even something as small as referring to her as "baby". ("Count on it, baby, I'll be there.") When referring to a woman that way...well, if I were a guy, I wouldn't call a woman I didn't think was attractive, "baby." And, of course, he saved her from the mobile suits fire in her debut episode..(though she was ungrateful...women are never grateful to Duo when he saves them ^_-) and he seemed pretty darn upset at the hallucination of blowing away Hilde in episode 32. And that Libra data disk episode is in a league of its own in Duo/Hilde fandom!!! Besides, she's kind, brave, generous and cute. Of course he likes her.

Well, maybe Hilde doesn't like Duo!

What's not to like?

You win the Duo-Hilde round...but hey! What about Heero and Quatre? Or Trowa and Quatre? Or Heero and Trowa? And what about Wufei?

Well, there's no evidence that any of them like each other. I don't know if Heero even knows HOW to like people. But I think Trowa and Heero or Quatre and Heero are better suited. And Wufei has a smaller chance of being gay, becuz, ya know, he was already married once to a girl named Merian. He had a strong relationship with her, but it was unknown whether he loved her. Probably just friendship. Anyway, she died and he was upset. Hmm...what do ya think of Wufei and Duo? I personally think they're a better match than Heero and Duo.

Oooh, Wufei and Duo! Yeah, baby, yeah! Time to write some new yaoi lemony fanfics about Duo and Wufei's hot relationship! Buh-bye!
