This page is going to get revamped as well, very soon. I wrote this five years ago, and my views towards Relly and Heero have changed just a smidgen.*

Relena: Listen up, crackhead monkeys! I'm Relena Darlian Peacecraft here to tell you that me and Heero are a match, 100 percent, all the way, to the end, forever and ever, til death do us part! Disagree? WELL YOU'RE WRONG! I'm Relena! And I know what I'm talking about! *smiles, winks, kawaii peace sign* Right Heero?

Heero: .....

Relena: Oh, crap, here comes SeaShelle. Prepare for a bunch of mindless drivel. Adios.

Are Relena and Heero an item?? There's so much controversy in this statement. This is perhaps the most debated topic in Gundam Wing fandom, running along the lines of, "Is the entire cast of Gundam Wing gay?" Though I don't have anything against yaoi, or yuri, or shounen ai or shoujo ai, I think that in this particular anime, Relena and Heero are probably meant to be together by the anime. Now, in the minds of fans, Duo and Heero are meant to be together....great!....I mean, everyone can interpret stuff they way they see fit. But there is very little Duo + Heero supporting in the anime....well, in Endless Waltz Heero thinks about Duo...but he thinks about Relena too!!! As hard as it may be to realize this, in the anime, Heero and Relena are definitely headed for a relationship...perhaps an unsuccessful one, but a relationship nonetheless. They make a cute couple, though, don't they...it just seems like they're meant to be...but then, Heero and Duo make a cute couple, too, don't they? Check out our HERE to see some analysis of the yaoi relationships...ones we support and ones we don't.

There's a lot of stuff, but you know what? My personal opinion isn't necesarily that the two should be together. I can see that they might be good friends, and Relena even admits that she is chasing Heero...but Heero is too much of a loner. He will probably die alone. Neither Relena or Duo will be able to be there for him. :_(

Why it Makes Sense

Here's my paragraph...er, novel... with just and supported reasoning, about Relena Darlian Peacecraft, Heero Yuy, and their supposed relationship...supposed....yeah....supposed...you know, just like the Duo/Heero relationship.

First off, Relena, "the stalker," as most anti-Relena activists call her, doesn't seem to be as big of a stalker as she is notorious for. She doesn't really "stalk" in my opinion, except for in the beginning episodes. She followed Heero around because she was captivated by him. He was moody, impersonal, and his deal with the war and his Gundam...well, she's only human! Of course she was curious! She followed him lots in the beginning, and I think in episode 10 she was talking to a picture of her father saying something like, "Oh father, you're not suprised, me chasing a boy all over the place?" She admits to liking Heero too, and she also admits to following him. And then there was the episode 6 deal with Heero DANCING with Relena...perhaps he finds her as attractive and interesting as she finds him...and then he uses his Gundam to shield Relena from falling rocks! YAOI FANS, YOU'RE EITHER BLIND OR STUPID IF YOU STILL ARGUE THAT HEERO HATES RELENA! I mean, you can go ahead and like Duo and Heero together, I mean, I don't mind them together either, and I know that Relena and Heero might not be in 'love', but he definately doesn't HATE her. If you think he hates her, then, well, you're wrong. Well, she did do an other thing to get her reputation and earn her place at the top of most GW fans' "Most hated characters" list. And that one thing is....disrupting the beautiful Duo/Heero relationship. What beautiful relationship?? "Why," the yaoists exclaim, "If there was no Relena Peacecraft, there'd be no freakin' debate about Heero and Relena as opposed to Heero and Duo! Duo would have Heero all to himself!!!" (Well, don't forget about Hilde.) But, you shouldn't really hate a character for being there...she's only a drawing, but her personality and mind is still there, the character, regardless of the fact that she is just a fictional picture, is still there. And, besides being Relena Peacecraft, heiress to the Sanc Kingdom, sister of Miliardo Peacecraft, worshipper of peace, lover of pacifism, and politician, she may also be meant for Heero, resident trigger happy suicidal maniac.

Relena even seems to care for Heero boy in the Ground Zero, drawn and owned by someone else, I'm making no profit, I have a lot of free time and get bored frequently.

Well, doesn't it make sense? Relena, the perfect politician, lover of peace and noble lady, the dignified stalker ends up with the antisocial, violent, grim Gundam pilot Heero Yuy? They excel at eachother's weak points. We all know how popular Miss Relena was at her school, the all around best friend and social regulator...then there's Heero, who's antisocial ways and grim outlook on life probably have him at least the at the bottom of the popularity chart....And while Relena's an all peaceful lady who can't fight, Heero's the perfect soldier, with the will to fight if needed and to kill or be killed....and will not cease until he completes his mission. Though many have said Relena and Heero are way too similar to ever have anything, I think that this is untrue. Relena and Heero, as described above, do have differences, but they are also similar to a point, such as in personality.

Now, how compatible are Heero and Relena, anyway? I'd say average, since their personalities are a little varied, and Relena seems to show obvious interest in Heero, though it may be just his mysterious life and personality, and Heero shows some interest in Relena, as well, but it's much more secluded and unobvious. They've been together throughout the whole show, and they seem to get along pretty well...not like Duo/Hilde "well," but a different well...they both seem to understand what the other is doing and why....except for, of course, that Queen Relena thing, but that was a romantic adventure in itself. They'd have an okay relationship, if Heero in his grim little heart can love anyone, male or female. Regardless, Relena has changed Heero's life forever, in many ways. If he does care for her (which he does at least as a friend, someone to stand by) then he probably won't ever 'date' her or 'marry' her. I can't really see the date or marriage thing happening with Heero. Maybe they will spend time together and then part ways. Like those old boring romance novels with the young, pretty, halfnaked girl and huge, muscular, halfnaked guy on the front cover.

Now that personality and compatibility is out of the way, let's get to the actual times in the series when a hint is portrayed.

It was kinda creepy when Relena pretended Heero was there after he'd driven off in an ambulance, introducing herself and pretending to shake his hand. Apparently there is love at first site. When Heero's enrolled at her mainly-girls school, Relena recognizes him and is, happy to see him. Later, she hands him a birthday invitation. Shyly, she says in an admiring way, "It's an invitiation to my birthday party. I hope you can make it." He takes it, eyes it, and rips it in half. When I first saw this, I was like, "What a bastard! That was so mean! What kind of a show is this!?" But gently he wiped the tears out of her eyes and told her in a soft, romantically soothing voice...."I will kill you." OK, so it's not as romantic as saying "I love you, Relena," but Heero doesn't express his emotions openly. Besides, I definately doubt Heero felt anything for Relena at this point in time..and this was the first episode, anyway.

Our wonderful friend Duo was introduced next episode. Heero looked at Relena. "Relena," he said. "Heero," she answered. He pulled out a gun. Her eyes enlarged x 1000. "You're in over your head," he told her. "Say goodbye, Relena.." He seemed to hang on her name a little, but cocked the gun anyway, preparing to kill Relena Darlian. He would have, too, this early in the show...he feels nothing for her yet. She's just another casuality in the climb to war's end. But a gunshot in the arm saves Relena for the present second. Duo Maxwell is introduced now, and Relena owes him her life. "It's pretty obvious to anyone that you're the bad guy here!" Duo yells at Heero. (For the yaoi lovers, obviously Duo does not believe in love at first site.) Relena then, pulls the most ungrateful act I've ever seen. She protects the guy who is intending to blow her brains out. She stands in front of Heero, and says, "Stop it! Why do you want to shoot him for!?" If I were Duo, I would have been like, "Well, are you saying you were perfectly okay with having a bullet through your brain? Should I go so that he can pump your head full of lead?"

relenahelpsheero.bmp (56694 bytes)

Heero is confused. Why is Relena helping him? He's gonna kill her! Ohh well. He'll accept the help now, so he doesn't bleed to death or get gangrene. But he'll kill her next time. It's a promise.

endedupthebadguy.bmp (206070 bytes)

And he ends up the bad guy.

myheero.jpg (37780 bytes)

Heero was looking for Relena on Libra. Here, he shielded her from an explosion.

Yaoi fans exclaim, "She's just a symbol of peace! That's why he says her name for no reason, hallucinates her on a couple of occasions!" (He falls out of his Gundam and looks up to a big image of Relena, and then in episode 11 he hallucinates Catherine Bloom to be Relena)...and if she's just a symbol of peace, why doesn't he kill her when she's better off dead?! (Queen Relena episodes, giving people ideas that OZ is something it's not). He chickens out every flaming time! Milliardo asks Heero as they battle in Epyon and Wing Zero, "Why don't you kill me?!" and Heero replies, "Because it would make Relena sad." AWWWW!!! And of course, he leaves her the teddy bear for her birthday, which I thought was completely sweet and proves that over the course of Gundam Wing....Relena has changed him a little and opened him up. If you compare him in the first few episodes to him in the last few episodes, you'll see. Despite the fact that he's *still* a suicidal maniac, which when episode 48 rolls around, we see Heero pull Relena close to him into his Gundam, I swear their noses are practically touching, and he tells her he'll protect her. Then he shoves her backward so he can take off. As she stands there, looking tearfully after his Gundam, he stops to look at Relly before proceeding. She knows he's own a suicide mission, so she freaks.

Since there's been stuff in most of the episodes that I could ramble on and on about, let's keep it short. When Heero is under strain, or fighting, he'll often say, "Relena..", or hallucinate an image of her. Perhaps she is an inspiration, or someone he looks up to, the way she does for him. And he'll mention her, or relate stuff to her. And in the episode after Relena became Queen, Heero realizes its best to kill Relena, and eliminate the false righteousness Relena is portraying OZ to the her people, who are all big fans of her. She is argued to be a character of any importance, but she's a 15 year old famous political woman. SHE IS, indeed a character of importance. Someone once said, "The only worthwhile thing Relena did was call Heero's name out so that he opened his parachute in time to save himself." This is untrue. Relena is a girl who comes to terms with her father's death, becomes Princess of the Sanc Kingdom, Queen of the world, even a lady on the battlefield at times. You people, who dislike Relena simply for the fact that EVERYONE ELSE dislikes Relena, make up the bulk of our Relena haters. YOU LEMMINGS! Relena is a very signifigant and memorable character of Gundam Wing. Anyway, Heero comes, and stands poised with a gun in a balcony above Relena while she gives a speech. He listens, not pulling the trigger. She sees him, and their eyes lock. Then she looks away, and closes her eyes. Go ahead and kill me, Heero. (and those of you who said Relena cried for Heero to help her everytime she faced death, or she was a wimpy spoiled baby... BS! She faces death defiantly in the face, every single time.) she thinks. She finishes the speech, not looking up again. Heero half-way pulls the trigger, and then he can't pull it, even though Relena is better off dead. He runs off, and thinks, "Let's see what you can do, Relena."

He also busts in to find Relena in "Milliardo's Desicion," after Hilde gets the data disk of Libra. "Relena's on Libra," says Duo. "She...is?" asks Heero, and it sounds to me like he's curious but pretending not to care. Heero sounded weird here...Duo nods. "Hilde said she saw her there." (Relena and Hilde shared a soda there). Heero immediately takes off to find her, and he meets up with her there.

In conclusion, it is hard to say what the future holds for the characters Heero and Relena. They are both aged 15, and they will do a lot of growing until they are ready for a longterm commitment.  As far as we know, in the end, Relena could end up with Heero, but Relena could end up with Trowa, or Dorothy, or maybe some character we don't even know! Or stays single! Maybe she spends the rest of her life with Trieze! (Or not...since he's dead...) And Heero. Maybe he does end up with Duo, or single, or with Miliardo Peacecraft (now that would make a strange sibling relationship). Maybe Heero marries Hilde, leaving Duo heart-broken and thristy for revenge. Or Catherine. Or Lucriezia Noin. Too bad our "friends" are fictional....too bad they're frozen in time, waiting for the day that someone decides another OAV is in order....which will most likely never happen, seeing how old the series is. (But I can wish.) All we have to look at now is how we last viewed the Gundam Wing cast...and that points to Relena/Heero together for the future.

Well, that was long....I sure have way too much free time. Maybe I'll take up PacMan. Yeah. PacMan!

Rebel/Warrior was created by SeaShelle in June 2000. It was last updated in June 2005. Rebel/Warrior is just a little character/humor-oriented site about Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing, a Japanese anime by Sunrise and Bandai. This site has no affiliation with those companies. So yeah.
