Yeah...huhuhu...Zechs is thiiiiis big

"If you're a sexist bastard and you know it, clap your hands!!"

Name: Chang Wufei

Sex: Male

Age: 15 in GW, 16 in EW

Weight: Shrimpy.

Height: 5'0"

Gundam: Shenlong

Distingiushable features: Receding hairline, black eyes & hair, loud ranting mouth, pants that go up past his shirt

Personality: He's very sad, most of the time. Chinese ideals uphold the belief of justice, much like Treize's idealistic views of justice and fair fights. Because of this, Wufei and Treize become spiritually very close in the duration of the series, until their final confrontation in which Wufei kills Treize--which is, in my opinion, an act of mercy as well as symbolism. Anyway, we all know that GW is chock-full of seriousness and symbolism and hidden connections, so let me get back to my humorous, obvious observations. Wufei is obviously very disturbed. By everything. He lashes out at people, and as his sense of duty, acts sexist in the fact that he tries to protect the weak (which, according to his ideals, are women.).

Past: He was previously married (according to episode zero) to a strong, skilled fighter named Merian. Merian was so tough that she was thought to be the reincarnation of a bad ass fighter, Nataku. Merian was killed, and though she died honorably in battle (or something), she still died, leaving Wufei ticked off. Apparently, at first they hated each other, but then they grew to be friends, and then I think eventually they fell in love (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and so, since Merian died, she told Wufei that maybe HE was Nataku reincarnated and he was like, "no, no. you are." So Wufei now thinks women are weak because he saw one of the strongest women he'd ever met, die. And he also calls his Gundam "Nataku" in honor of Merian. End of story.

Nationality: Chinese

Place of residence: L5 Colony

Wufei. There's so much to say about him, yet so little I want to say about him.

Truthfully? I can't say I really dig him all that much. In fact, not really at all. It might be a combination of his greased-up hair (which caused his receding hairline) and the fact that he's a sexist bastard. Personally, I'm leaning towards the second reason.

He has a close rivalry with Treize throughout the series, and he even kills Treize. (If memory serves correctly...) but cries at the same time. "Dieeee!...boo hoo..." Treize and him are a match made in...somewhere....Treize even lets Wufei go in one of the episodes because he's a kid with honor and potential, and Treize is also a man of honor. (but no potential. I hate Treize almost as much as I hate Wufei.)

While the other pilots kind of remain somewhat close (sometimes too close for comfort!), in fandom and the actuality, Wufei is the straggler, the loner--incessantly ranting about justice, and loving on his Gundam. ("My precioussss...")

He hangs out with Duo once, when they get captured together (I think that was Wufei...it's been a long time since I've watched Gundam Wing...) and they get along semi well.

Wufei has serious issues with women. He proclaims that they are all weak and inferior. Except all the women in the series (including Relena) could kick his ass with one hand tied behind their back. (But shhh, don't tell him that. It might damage his gigantic ego.) Anyway, he seems to have some sort of a connection with Sally Po, and after Endless Waltz it is implied that he goes and get a job with her at the Preventers. (the pretenders!)

While all the pilots (and characters for that matter) have some sort of an emotional issue/disorder/problem, Wufei has definitely got Sexist Jerk Disorder down to a t.

I'm sorry I can't find anything else to say, but I'd like to smack him in the face, if that helps. (No, no it doesn't.)

In all reality, though, Wufei is really not "sexist", per say, but the old-time Chinese culture definitely plays women out to be the weaker sex, and Wufei feels it is his duty to protect those that are weaker. He begins to learn that the GWing ladies are strong too, and accepts their help on several occasions. Wufei gets beat up a lot, by me, and otherwise, but he is a very valiant character when it comes down to it. I just bash him for humor value. And I mean it in a good way. (OK, not really.)

Wufei Quotes:

"Nataku!!"

"Girls have cooties!"*

"If you don't kill me now, I'll keep coming back until I get you, Treize!!" (in bed?)

*Note: He may or may not actually have said that.

Rebel/Warrior was created by SeaShelle in June 2000. It was last updated in June 2005. Rebel/Warrior is just a little character/humor-oriented site about Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing, a Japanese anime by Sunrise and Bandai. This site has no affiliation with those companies. So yeah.
